Agatha’s Story…Where to begin.

This girl’s life at the sanctuary began on day two at the rescue site in Meade County. Mark and Dorothy are returning to get the last two…or is it three cats? The team knows about the one who will become Smokey. They are aware of his partner, too, but now there are three big cats. That’s right, they now count three cats. When they get out on-site, they count, not just two. So, who is this mystery cat? Here’s her story.
When Mark and Dorothy left the day before, they only had two cats left to catch. Now they have two plus one BIG BLACK AND WHITE LONG HAIR CAT. She’s almost too big for the biggest rescue trap we have. It’s a good thing she’s as friendly as a freshly dumped cat. Smokey, who’s the leader of the pride at the rescue site, welcomes her warmly. He takes her into his cat pride rather than running her off. When Mark and Dorothy show up, he tells them about the new arrival. He draws their attention in her direction. It doesn’t take long to get friendly with her. She lets Daddy pick her up. Daddy loves her with plenty of petting. They make sure there’s some food and water in the transport cage. She lets Daddy put her in without a fight. They finish catching the last two cats, and by mid-afternoon that second day, they’re on their way home.
When everyone’s settled in, they sit down with Sister, the cat whisperer, to discuss possible names. Sister stars with the big cat, and she tells Sister she wants a VIKING name, and Sister gets to work. A couple of days later, they get back together, and the name Agatha comes out. Agatha is now our BIG VIKING WARRIOR PRINCESS. To give you some idea of the size, she’s bigger than a Maine Coon. She is smaller than a Rag Doll Cat.
Agatha’s not much of a lap cat, but she loves scratches behind her ears and on her back. If she can get Daddy to lie down on his back, she loves to stretch out on his chest. She enjoys this to get some of his special love. She has declared the sanctuary her FUR-EVER home. She is now the resident Viking. Agatha will stand up with Jules Verne to make sure his voice is heard. She ensures that his feelings are known. Around here, cats decide if they want to be adopted. They can also choose to make the Crazy Cat Sanctuary their FUR-EVER home. They tell the human, and not the other way around, so she has told Sister she’s staying. After all, the sanctuary is where they come to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is the beginning of her new life, and she is in charge of it.
Since the first writing of this story, she has gone over the Rainbow Bridge and is greatly missed.
