As the summer heat intensifies, the well-being of our feline companions—particularly our black-coated rescues—demands our utmost attention. Because of their dark pigmentation, these cats absorb solar radiation more efficiently than lighter felines, a unique physiological trait that requires intentional care during the warmer months. This guide explores essential safety measures for our sanctuary residents, from…
When you think of contrast you think of black and white, big and small, sweet and sour. But do you think of black and ginger? Around the Sanctuary we never say who will click and who won’t. One day, a young lady called Mark and Dorothy. She was referred to the sanctuary. She had to surrender a couple of cats. She had three but only take one with her. All they knew was they would need a large unit to transport one of the cats because he was BIG.

She is a full blood Black Bombay cat who came to the humans of Crazy Cat Sanctuary even before the thought of a rescue or sanctuary made its presence known. Her daddy was a friend of Mark’s back in San Antonio, TX.
So what started the desire to take in black cats and kittens? It was one little kitty who goes by the name of Midnight, and as you might have figured out, she started out life a bit on the rough side. She wandered up to a house on some property outside of Hodgenville, Ky, and…
The story tells of Midnight and her team, challenging the negative perception of black cats. Midnight leads the “Black Cat Rescue Squad” to rescue and care for black cats and kittens, aiming to change attitudes one human at a time. Despite losing some members, she continues her mission, welcoming new sidekicks and starting a “Black Kitten Training Team” to ensure her legacy.
