As a Child of God, it is crucial to ensure that Jesus Christ is not just there in your life. He must be in absolute control. If He is on the back burner, then the adversary, Satan, will inevitably fill the vacuum. This reality is unacceptable and dangerous. Every believer must be aware of it. They must defend against it with the whole armor of God. Are you confidently and joyfully ready to proclaim, “JESUS CHRIST IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!” Or does this audit reveal a desperate need for change?
The Dangers of Passivity:
When we relegate Jesus to a secondary position in our lives, we allow Him to “take a back seat.” This creates a spiritual vacuum that will inevitably be filled. This conscious or unconscious act of spiritual passivity opens a wide and inviting door to the enemy’s influence. Satan is quick to seize this opportunity. He will eagerly step into the void left by our lack of prioritizing Christ with fervent commitment.
This subtle, creeping indifference is a perilous spiritual state. Our passivity acts as a direct impediment to the dynamic, transformative power of the Holy Spirit. The result is a slow, but certain, descent into spiritual stagnation. This is a state where spiritual growth ceases. Prayer becomes rote and infrequent. Scripture reading is neglected. The vibrancy of our relationship with God fades.
Furthermore, this back-seat approach inexorably leads to a profound weakening of our faith. A faith that is not actively nourished and exercised is a faith that atrophies. When Jesus is not the driving force of our decisions, thoughts, and actions, our reliance shifts. Often subtly, it moves to our own strength, worldly wisdom, or fleeting pleasures. This diminished commitment makes us susceptible to doubt and distraction. It also makes us to compromise when faced with the inevitable trials and temptations of life.
So, it is essential to recognize that our walk with Christ demands active, conscious prioritization. Jesus must be in control of every part of our existence. This includes our careers, our finances, our relationships, our free time, and our innermost thoughts. This means intentionally choosing to spend time in His presence, obeying His commands, and seeking His will above all else. This proactive commitment is the only effective preventative measure against the enemy’s influence. It is the only guarantee of genuine, enduring spiritual vitality.
The Consequences of Half-Hearted Faith:
The scriptures unequivocally declare the profound consequences of a half-hearted faith. Such faith is marked by ambivalence. It can also be crippled by fear. Jesus, in His wisdom and authority, delivered powerful parables specifically focused on judgment, which serve as stark and urgent warnings. These narratives show the inevitable fate of those called to discipleship. They fail to commit to it wholeheartedly and unwaveringly.
We are compelled to take these divine warnings seriously. We recognize them not as mere cautionary tales. Instead, they are viewed as vital instructions for eternal life. The goal of every believer is to strive continually. They must aim to become a true, wholehearted follower of Christ. This involves living a life marked by total devotion, courage, and action.
Any commitment must be a total surrender. Any faith that is tepid, compromised, or easily swayed by the fear of man or worldly pressures is dangerous. It places the individual in a perilous spiritual state. Such spiritual negligence or ambivalence places us in grave danger. We risk facing the ultimate judgment. Additionally, it will lead to the tragic, eternal separation from the presence of God. The stakes are not temporary or trivial; they are eternal, demanding our full and fearless allegiance.
The All-Consuming Passion of Christ:
The profound question before us is this: Are you truly allowing Christ’s all-consuming, divine passion to dwell inside of you? Does it work within you? This is not merely an intellectual assent to a historical fact, but an invitation to a radical, transformative indwelling. Jesus Christ, in His boundless love and zeal for humanity, seeks a place of ultimate preeminence. He desires to be irrevocably at the center of our existence. He yearns to be the compass that guides our every footstep. He longs to be the light that illuminates our most difficult paths. He wants to be the ultimate motivation behind every decision and action we undertake.
When we consciously and willingly yield control of our inner lives to this divine power, something miraculous happens. His passion—His fervent, sacrificial love and purpose—permeates and fills us. It is in this surrender that we start to experience life as God intended. This life is characterized by true, unshakable joy. It has a profound, sustaining peace that surpasses all human understanding. It also offers an authentic fulfillment that the temporary pleasures of the world can never replicate. This is the abundant life promised to those who follow Him.
Thus, let us hold ourselves to a higher standard. Let us refuse to settle for a lukewarm faith. Such a faith is perilous and complacent. It is half-hearted and ultimately unsatisfying to both God and the believer. Instead, with a renewed commitment and zealous pursuit, let us actively seek to be utterly consumed. Let us be set ablaze. Let us be wholly defined by the relentless and unwavering love of Christ. This passionate pursuit is the essence of a dynamic, living relationship with our Creator.
The Need for Change:
Conduct a thorough audit of your life. This means an honest inventory of your priorities, decisions, and allegiances. If you find that Jesus is not in absolute control, then you must make a radical, immediate change. This can’t be a matter of minor adjustment or superficial alteration; it demands a comprehensive realignment of your very existence.
We must actively seek to make Him paramount in all parts of our lives. This means moving beyond mere religious lip service or compartmentalizing faith to Sundays. Christ’s Lordship must permeate every sphere:
- Your Finances: Are your spending and saving habits driven by worldly ambition or by stewardship principles that honor Him?
- Your Relationships: Do you interact with your spouse, children, friends, and colleagues gracefully? Do you offer forgiveness and love as Christ models?
- Your Career and Ambitions: Is your professional life a platform for self-glory? Or is it a mission field? Does your work ethic and integrity point others toward the Kingdom?
- Your Thoughts and Entertainment: Do you consume media and harbor thoughts that build up and glorify God? Or do you allow corrosive influences to take root?
We must make sure that He is not just passively beside us but actively leading the way. A passive Jesus is merely a comforting idea, a spiritual backup plan for emergencies. An actively leading Jesus is the sovereign King. His voice is the one we listen to. We obey his commands. His direction dictates every major and minor decision we make. This active leadership requires:
- Consistent Prayer and Listening: Developing a vibrant, two-way communication with God, seeking His counsel before acting.
- Daily Submission: The conscious choice each morning to lay down our own will and surrender to His perfect plan.
- Obedience to Scripture: Allowing the Word of God to be the lamp unto our feet. It serves as the light unto our path (Psalm 119:105). It is the unchanging standard by which we measure our conduct.
Let us commit to keeping Jesus in the house, allowing His presence to transform us from the inside out. “The house” represents the core of our being—our heart, our soul, and our daily life. When Christ is truly resident, He becomes the very foundation and atmosphere. His presence is not static. It is a transformative power that burns away selfishness. It replaces anxiety with peace. It cultivates the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This inward transformation then naturally spills out. It makes us living testimonies and agents of His love. The world is desperately in need of His control.
Keeping Jesus Christ at the Center:
The foundational principle for a meaningful and steadfast life is maintaining Jesus Christ at the absolute center. The significance of this truth can’t be overstated or underestimated, as it is the very anchor of our souls. We are called to be ever-vigilant. We must actively guard against the subtle and insidious ways the world tries to diminish His preeminence. Our own negligence contributes to this. If we allow even a moment of complacency, He will be pushed to the periphery. He has been relegated to the “back burner” of our priorities, decisions, and daily thoughts.
This vacuum, created by the sidelining of the Savior, is never left empty. It is precisely into this space that the adversary seeks to creep, establishing a foothold where Christ’s light should reign. To counter this spiritual danger, we must adopt a posture of confident and public declaration. So, let our lives become a resounding and unapologetic proclamation: “JESUS CHRIST IS IN THE HOUSE!!!!”
This declaration is more than a mere utterance; it is a commitment to action. It signifies a total, unconditional surrender to His will and a dedication to pursuing Him wholeheartedly. This commitment must permeate every aspect of our existence—our choices, our relationships, our work, our leisure, and our inner lives. By intentionally and consistently keeping Him as the Lord of all, we guarantee that our lives stay firmly rooted. Our lives are protected from the schemes of the enemy. They are aligned with the eternal purposes He has prepared for us.
